#TestiaExperts – Kevin, NDT Technician

Kévin, NDT Technician | L2 MT/PT | L1 IRT

I stumbled upon NDT very early in my career when I was working my first job. I got interested straightaway as it is a very versatile field with 7 different methods, it offers a great capacity for autonomy and I strongly believe it is a business with a future, especially for Aerospace.

I started my training with Testia and I have now been certified Level 2 in Penetrant Testing and Magnetic Testing for 4 years, Level 1 Infra-red Testing for a year and I will soon take the exam to become a Level 2 in Radiographic Testing (fingers crossed!).

I soon decided to apply for a job at Testia as it is a reference for Aerospace NDT. I enjoy it as I get offered very different tasks and assignments that allow me to learn every day, and I know that the company offers many opportunities for career development: since I started in 2018, I’ve already been offered a position of Deputy to support my manager in supervising the operations.

My main job is to ensure the quality of Aerospace manufacturing parts within the Testia workshop, or to control the Aircraft at a maintenance stage. Being certified in 3 methods is great advantage that prevents any kind of routine: every day is different and, depending on the emergencies, I sometimes get to travel to the other side of the world to support a customer.

I really appreciate the work environment at Testia as it is a trustful company with great equipment and facilities and a tremendous atmosphere between teams and departments. We also have a strong pool of Level 3 staff which I can turn to if I need to.

I currently am working for Safran Landing Systems, the world leader for landing gears, in Bidos. I was originally sent there for 4 months as they needed a Magnetic Testing technician to support their ramp-up. Since then, we’ve established a trustful relationship and my assignment was extended until the end of March. I enjoy being able to travel to support my customer on-site as it shows great flexibility in my work and also allows me to gain a different experience than the one I get from the Testia workshop.

To me, a good NDT technician should be rigorous, autonomous, willing to learn and with a strong team-spirit. To sum up my life at Testia in 3 words: interesting, ambitious and fun!
